Points changed how I travel

Over the past few years I've used credit card points to take trips I couldn't have afforded otherwise: Switzerland, Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and more. Some of those experiences would not have been possible without points.

I started Award Travelers to help other people do the same: find the real value sitting in their points balance, and turn it into a trip they never thought was possible.

How it works

Seven steps from sending your trip to boarding the plane. Here's exactly what happens.

From $175. Flat rate, based on group size and cabin.

  1. 1

    Send your trip details

Fill out the request form: where you're flying from and to, your dates, your points, and how flexible you can be.

  2. 2

    Pay a $50 deposit

The deposit is non-refundable, even if I can't find a deal. If I do find one, it counts toward your final price.

  3. 3

    I find the best redemption

I search airline and hotel programs to see where your points go the furthest.

  4. 4

Get 1-3 itineraries in 72 hours

You receive a few options by email, each with the points cost and what you'd pay in taxes and fees.

  5. 5

    Choose the one you like

Pick the itinerary that fits your trip best.

  6. 6

    I walk you through booking

You book it yourself, and I guide you through every step by email.

  7. 7

    Pay the balance

Once your trip is booked, you pay the rest of the fee from your account on this site.

Questions people ask me

Not seeing yours? Email theawardtravelers@gmail.com and I'll get back to you.

Do I need millions of points to get started?

No. Even a modest balance can cover a real trip when it's used well. Tell me what you have and I'll tell you what's realistic, and how to build more of it if you want to go further.

Which loyalty programs do you work with?

Most major airline and hotel programs, plus transferable bank points like Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Capital One miles. You'll see the full list on the request form; if yours isn't on it, choose "Other" and tell me about it.

Do you book my trips for me?

No. I find the best redemption and walk you through booking it yourself, by email. Your points stay in your own accounts and you stay in control the whole time.

What if you can't find a deal?

Award availability changes constantly, and sometimes the seats or rooms you want just aren't there. I'll do my best to find you a strong option, but I can't guarantee one. If I can't find a deal, your $50 deposit is not refunded. If I do, it counts toward your final price.

What if I don't have enough points yet?

Tell me your balance and the trip you have in mind on the request form. If it's not quite enough, I'll say so upfront and tell you what it would take to get there, rather than pointing you toward a redemption that doesn't work.

Can my points only be used for flights?

No. Many programs also cover hotels, and some let you use points for other things. Flights and hotels usually give the best value, so that's where my research focuses.
